Captured in February 2023 by Santiago Canales, this photograph was taken high above Cochamó Valley in southern Chile, overlooking the immense granite walls that have earned the region the nickname the Chilean Yosemite.

In the foreground, a climbing partner rests beside pale granite boulders after several hours of hiking. Beyond him, the valley drops away dramatically toward dark rock faces, alpine terrain, and distant snow-covered peaks.

The image balances human presence with the vast scale of the landscape, creating a composition that feels both intimate and expansive.
