Photographed by Santiago Canales in February 2018 during a solo bicycle journey through the southern section of the Carretera Austral, this image captures the quiet grandeur of one of Patagonia’s most remote regions. Near the Southern Patagonian Ice Field, the landscape is shaped by glaciers, vast watersheds, and mountain ranges that extend beyond the horizon. The photograph was taken from a bridge overlooking one of the lake's western inlets, where the immense body of water narrows before continuing through the surrounding valleys.

The small boat crossing the scene introduces a subtle human presence within a landscape of overwhelming scale. Whether carrying fishermen, travelers, or local visitors drawn to the lake during the summer season, it becomes a point of reference against the vastness of Patagonia.
